Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation traces its origin back to the year 1981 when the ThirumurugaKirupananda Variyar Thavathiru Sundara Swamigal (TKVTSS) Medical Educational and Charitable Trust was established. Building upon this foundation, the visionary Founder-Chairman, Dr. A. Shanmugasundaram, founded the Vinayaka Mission’s College of Pharmacy at Salem in 1982. This institution marked the pioneering step of Vinayaka Missions in the realm of education.

Aarupadai Veedu Institute of Technology (AVIT) was established in the year 1998 as an affiliated institution under the University of Madras. Later it was affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. In 2004, the institution attained the status of university under the ambit of Vinayaka Mission’s Research Foundation (VMRF) – Deemed to be University Salem under sec.3 of UGC act 1956.AVIT is approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and Council of Architecture (COA), Govt of India.  The institution is committed to impart quality education to the students from different socio-economic backgrounds. The institution offers under-graduate programmes in ten different disciplines including B. Arch and seven post-graduate programmes including Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Full-time (Regular) mode. The institute is also offering five undergraduate programmes and six post graduate programmes in Part-Time (Regular) mode.
